Holding Courses from Sending to the Kitchen

In busy bars and restaurants, where kitchens are under constant pressure to prepare and serve food quickly, it can be helpful to control when certain courses are sent for preparation. Some operations choose to hold selected courses back from printing in the kitchen until guests are ready for their next course. This approach helps prevent an overload of tickets in the kitchen, improves timing between courses, and supports smoother service during peak periods.

The Course Hold feature allows point of sale operators to hold selected courses and send them to the kitchen only when they are needed.

Requires Aztec 3.33.0 or above

Setup

Navigate to Base Data → Estate Structure → Sites → Optional Functionality
  • Enable Course Hold

Navigate to Base Data → Product Configuration → Courses
  • Enable Course Hold check box on the required courses

    Only those selected will be available on the point of sale terminal to be held
Navigate to Theme Modelling → Themes / Shared Panels
  • From the Button Picker | Functions | Ordering add the Course Hold button
